On 22 September Slovakia celebrates its National Day and Slovak Armed Forces Day. The Slovak Detachment at the Joint Force Training Centre (JFTC) conducted a military ceremony recognizing the day on 20 September.
His Excellency Dušan Krištofík, Ambassador of Slovak Republic to Poland, Professor Wiesław Olszewski, Honorary Consul of Slovakia, as well as representatives of NATO units in Bydgoszcz, including Brigadier General Jozsef Szpisjak, JFTC Deputy Commander and Chief of Staff, honoured the day with their presence.
The Slovak Armed Forces Day commemorates the battle which was fought on 22 September 1848 in vicinity of town Brezova pod Bradlom. Slovak patriots defeated regular units of Austro-Hungarian Empire striving to Slovakia’s independence. This day was declared a Slovak National Day in 1998.
Congratulations to Slovak people all over the world!
